Arrival, Free Day in Yerevan

Welcome to Armenia! A snowy country, which welcomes you with warm heart! As your arrival is in the afternoon, we shall pick you up from the airport and drive to your hotel. We shall help you for the check in. Later you have free time and you can visit the nearest restaurants for the lunch. We can advise you the nearest shops and malls. You can enjoy the walking in the evening Yerevan. It is one of the oldest inhabited capitals in the world, blends the ancient and modern. During your stay in Yerevan you will see all the major sights of the capital. Start the tour with a visit to the Republic Square. It houses the National Art Gallery, the History Museum, the Government House and other buildings. Walk around North avenue, and then you can see the spectacular Opera House and the Swan Lake. Cascade Monument is a giant staircase, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Yerevan. Walking to the very top of it you can visit the Victory Park and make a stop at the Mother Armenia Monument that overlooks the capital.

Geghard Monastery, Garni Temple, Symphony of Stones

Today we will visit one of the main sights of pilgrimage in Armenia – the rock-hewn monastery of Geghard – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is believed to be the place where the Holy Lance was kept in the middle ages. The Holy Lance was brought to Armenia by apostle St. Thaddeus in the 1st century. Today hundreds of people visit this place and drink the crystal-clear miraculous water coming from the spring inside.
We will then drive to Garni village. Here we will visit the only surviving pagan temple at Garni, dating from the 1st century AD, is a splendid example of ancient architecture of Hellenistic period. At one time a great complex of palaces and temples, serving as a summer residence for the Armenian Kings, stood here. Moreover, there is also a natural monument, called Stone Symphony. It is most easily reached via a road that leads left down the gorge just before reaching the temple of Garni.
In the evening we are coming back to Yerevan for the second overnight. We reach before lunch. You can visit Opera house area, where a skating lake is located. The surrounding streets are full of coffee-shops, restaurants for fast food, taverns.

Lake Sevan – Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort

This is the last day to be in Yerevan. We are checking out from the hotel. First, we are moving to Lake Sevan. The fascination and the pearl of mountainous Armenia is Sevan Lake, which is one of the world’s greatest high altitude fresh-water lakes. It is about 1900 m above sea level. The lake is of volcanic origin and is surrounded with mountains of 3000 m and higher. The beautiful landscape and the crystal water serve nice preconditions for excellent rest. The lake is also famous for its peninsula and medieval church complex (874).
Later on, we shall move to Tsaghkadzor ski resort, and there you will have a ropeway ride. It is situated along the southeast side of Mt. Teghenis (2,819m), and approximately 60 km from Yerevan. It is one of the nice places of our mountainous country, where the beauty of the nature appears with its whole variety. is surrounded with virginal woods and alpine meadows. Take a ride on the Leitner ropeway to the top, from which you will see Lake Sevan.
We shall have another attraction – zip-line in Tsaghkadzor. It is a double-rope over the small town. After the interesting flight we shall drop you off here, and move back to Yerevan. You will have one free day.

Khor Virap, Noravank Monastery, Areni Winery

We are driving to southern direction and on our first stop is Khor Virap monastery, which is located on the slopes of the biblical Mount Ararat. From here you can also see the border of Armenia with Turkey. Then the journey continues to the Areni winery and the bird cave, which is the oldest winery in the world. Here we have another stop at the winery, tours and wine tasting are organized. Next on the list is the medieval monastery complex Noravank through the gorge of the Amagu River with beautiful pink cliffs and ancient caves. This masterpiece dates from 13-14 centuries. On the wall is the first image of God.
The road back is approximately 2 hours, so we shall return at about 6 o’clock. The next day will be free for you.
